Lamplight Theatre introduces new Foggy Valley Comedy.

“The Foggy Valley Murder Mystery”

A Whodunit Slapstick Comedy

KINGSPORT, Tenn., September 30, 2017 As Fall approaches, LampLight Theatre gears up with the next bizarre adventure from the Foggy Valley Gang.  Something strange is going on at the Goodin Family Funeral Parlor.  A severe storm has hit Foggy Valley and the Funeral Parlor has become a refuge for some peculiar, unexpected overnight visitors including Cleopha and Nydifer Blair and a mysterious foreign detective. A power outage allows for a murderer to escape the local jail. This is a sure recipe for mayhem as the Goodin Family and friends return to the stage in “The Foggy Valley Murder Mystery.”

Things go “bump in the night” and result in the murder of one of the unwanted guests.  With no phone service and roads blocked, the Foggy Valley Gang scrambles for protection. As the evening progresses, people disappear and pandemonium breaks out into hilarious bedlam. With the help of redneck “in house” security, the gang is determined solve the murder and catch the killer by following clues that have been left behind.  Needless to say, they take matters into their own hands.

Spoolie and Mama Goodin decide to have a little “memorial service” for the deceased while secretly trying to get to the bottom of things and flush-out the murderer. The service includes special music by The Goodin Family Singers, Miss Clementine Hogg, and Elvis Impersonator, Clovis Bodine. Flo Rakestraw will share her interpretive movement along with a special recitation from daughter, Ura.  Rev. Clyde Humperdink will bring a great message of revelation that is sure to expose the “sinner” (murderer) amongst them.

The audience will have the opportunity to solve the mystery.  The show will have surprise endings and will not have the same outcome each performance.  “The Foggy Valley Murder Mystery” will be presented by LampLight Theatre at The Emporium at 146 Broad Street in Downtown, Kingsport, TN with a Dinner Theatre on October 21st at 12:30PM and 6:00PM. Cost for the Dinner Theatre is Adults-$30/ Students-$25/ Children Under 12-$20. Doors will open one hour prior for both shows.

For reservations and information, please contact the LampLight box office at (423) 343-7610, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at

LampLight Theatre presents “House of Martyrs”

Halloween Show Not for the Faint-hearted

KINGSPORT, Tenn., September 18, 2017 This year’s Mortality Room revisits a horror classic from the past.   This ultimate, alternative Halloween experience is called “House of Martyrs”.  The production centers on a contemporary, modern-day high school scenario with flashbacks into the lives of past martyrs who were tortured and killed for their faith.

Due to the nature of the “true to life” atrocities, there is no avoidance of the gruesome details depicted in this drama.  Because the production is very explicit in nature with its disturbing “real life” situations, it promises to make the audience contemplate their own lives and hopes to inspire courage in the face of martyrdom.

Through the use of multi-media, professional staging, and theatrical illusions, LampLight Theatre will be transformed into a bloody chamber of torture.  Satan and his servants’ ploys are unveiled as the audience journeys back and forth through history on a twisted timeline of horror.  “House of Martyrs” is not for the faint-hearted and will leave you to decide in whom and what you really believe.

This production is rated PG-13.  Due to the graphic nature of the drama, we feel it necessary to have this rating.  We strongly recommend that students under the age of 13 have parental permission or be accompanied by a guardian or parent.

Performances will be weekends in October.  Fridays and Saturdays at 6:30PM and 9:00PM.  Sundays at 6:30PM ONLY.  Two additional performances will include Monday October 30th and Tuesday October 31st at 6:30PM ONLY.  No reservations are necessary, however they are recommended in order to guarantee times and seating.  Suggested donation for the performances is $8 for all ages.  Please call the box office for reservations and more details. Netherland Inn Lo Country Boil is back again!

After a very successful 2016 fun event, Netherland Inn is once again sponsoring our largest fundraiser, The Netherland Inn Lo Country Boil. On August 12, 2017, we will be enjoying everyone’s favorite Frogmore Stew, singing and dancing at the exciting venue, the Kingsport Farmer’s Market. Great food and a chance to further historic restoration at King’s Port on the Holston River!

We need your help to protect our local treasure!

The Netherland Inn Complex is the “Centerpiece” of the City’s 20-year “Riverwalk” / Kingsport on the Holston re-development project. It is essential the financial support for its continued existence be insured.

In the early years of the Netherland Inn Association, federal grants were available and much of the restoration was financed by these grants.  Present day, the Inn is maintained and expanded completely with Association dues, memorial donations, gift shop sales and fund raising events.  Maintenance costs for the complex are major, and reconstruction of historic additions (such as the bank barn and flatboat) has magnified the operating and maintenance expenses.

We have used 100% of the funding from past events for:

– continuous repair and maintenance of buildings and grounds
– replacement of the heating and cooling system in the Inn
– Parts 1 & 2 of the Inn’s 4-Stage Plan: completion and furnishing of the Museum of Pioneer Transportation and replica flatboat
– Exterior repair and re-painting the Inn

Funds from this and future events will go toward:

– Parts 3 & 4 of the Inn’s 4-Stage Plan: construction of a reproduction of King’s Wharf and the salt warehouse
– We are very excited to announce a new project! Funds are needed for the moving, reassembling, roofing, and wiring of a pre-Civil War cabin to be used as an interactive children’s pioneer museum

All proceeds from the 2017 Lo Country Boil will be used to augment and maintain the Inn.

Thank you for your support of this unique historic site!

Purchase tickets online here or grab them at the door!
